Introduction:
Ottawa Sting MHA has recognized the importance of providing additional concentrated training for association members. The first attempt was initiated last season (2007-08) with limited success due to the lack of prime ice time (only Saturday evenings were available).
For 2008-09, three (3) hours of ice time on Tuesday evenings have been secured at the Peplinski arena from 18:00 – 20:50.
General Concept:
The intention is to have 10-15 skaters per team on the ice for these sessions; therefore, a total of 20-30 skaters.
Activities will be aligned along the following activities:
40
% - skill - passing techniques, shoot in motion techniques, pressure techniques
both offensive and defensive;
40 % - powerskating, working on many burst strength techniques, resistance skating,
balance and control; and
20 % - conditioning - simply that we will push players to out forth their best
effort.
Team tactics are not emphasised during these sessions.
Instructor:
This program is being offered through Take Flight, lead instructor Scott Bean. Scott Bean has been working with Take Flight for several years and has provided conditioning camp support to the Ottawa Sting MHA for the past two seasons.
Coaches are welcome on the ice with their teams. If there are specific individual skills that you want your team to focus on, please discuss this with Scott.

Special Instructions:
Teams and/or players must provide WATER. First team list is tasked to provide a trainer, if they cannot then they must advise the 2nd team. Of course it is always better to have your team trainer at all team functions.
Goalies:
No
specific instruction will be provided for goalies; however, goalies are welcome
to attend and teams could coordinate goalie instruction during these sessions
if they desire. Please ensure the instructor and other team is aware of your
intention regarding goalies.
Schedule Conflicts:
It
is understandable that league/team schedule conflicts may arise throughout the
season. Please try your best to resolve these conflicts by trading ice times
with other OS teams prior to advising me (no later than the previous Friday
of your scheduled session). I will then attempt to find a Bytown District team
to fill in your spot.
Comments:
This program, as all programs within OSMHA, depends on the cooperation and support of all members. Comments and suggestions are always welcome.
Thank
you,
Chris Cullen
